The beginnings of SLC International Training Services
...

Stjepan Golubic has been training drivers around the world for over 15 years. He has worked for BP South Africa and more recently for Garden City Commercials as their Senior Driver Trainer / Instructor.  He has accreditation for most makes of trucks. Ownership of Garden City changed hands in 2001 and Stjepan's clients at Garden City asked that he continue his good work in his personal capacity.  He then started  SLC International Training Services.

Stjepan is passionate about driver training, and while driver training was one aspect that many customers don't feel is important,  that a simple code 14 licence should be adequate, the new generation trucks require a certain pattern of driving.  In order  to make best use of the new generation technology of the engines, brakes and new powerful retardation systems. This new technology is quite different from the old ADE engines and if not used correctly, can result in relatively high fuel consumption as well as over-heating damage and maintenance costs.

Steven Godleman, having also been involved in the transport industry through the CTrack Driver Management and tracking products for 15 years, often encountered clients wishing to enforce greenband settings, idle time settings, maximum RPM settings that were virtually impossible for the driver to satisfy. Driver management systems often pointed out various violations to customers through reports, but not many people knew how to instruct the drivers on how to drive these new generation trucks efficiently.

Stjepan and Steven looked at combining their knowledge of various driving patterns and they noticed good new type driving patterns equated to better fuel consumption.

Steven then joined Stjepan at SLC International Training Services in 2012, with the mutual goal of expanding the business and offering their expertise and cost savings to more clients.

ACCREDITATIONS

SLC International has, over the last 14 years, built up a database of clients and managed to achieve TETA accreditation as well as Accreditation Registration No : N9409/127/765 O.S.H.Act 1993 Driven Machinery Regulations Section 18 (11) - Govermant Gazete Notice 2802 of 1992 which enables the client to claim these expenses against the skills development levy and effectively is claimed back once a year. So the client is investing in his drivers, getting better fuel consumption, reduced accidents, maintenance and tyre costs and claims the training fee back!
